Bridging the PC-TV Gulch
By Steve Morgenstern
I have roughly 4,000 songs, 1,200 photos and several hours of edited video stored on my computer's hard drive; a virtual garden of digital delights, as long as I'm sitting in front of the PC. I'd much rather pipe the pictures and tunes down to the living room, where there's a big-screen TV, a surround-sound stereo system, and no... (Read Article))

So now when you've somehow managed to filled up all 1.2 terabytes of storage (you gotta love you some TV), you can easily back it up to DVDs instead of having to first transfer it to a PC for burning. Meet ‘TELLY MC1200’, A Home Media Server

ITX-based PC Attempts to Solve the Media Client Problem

June 18, 2003 - ... However, two companies are currently plowing ahead, developing media PCs using the EPIA M10000: Interact-TV's Linux-based Telly and OneBox's Media Center PC, which despite its name, does not use Windows XP Media Center. The boxes are priced at $900 and $1,000, respectively, and as such, they are a good bit more expensive than our $400 target price. But because you use them as both media client and server – storing all your digital media on their internal hard drives, some of this additional cost can be justified... (Read Article)
