Compatibility: If I remove the stock hard drive and fill the unit with very large hard drives, is there any re-install process that must be done to the system, and is that done through bootable CD or something similar?

You can just add two additional drives if you have the MC1200 or the MC1000 (discontinued). The MC800 and MyTelly only support one hard drive. You do not need to reinstall software, simply install the drive and Telly will configure it for you the next time the system starts up.
Yes, there is an install DVD that autoboots and reinstalls the application software. This is only needed if you replace the main system hard drive.
